Tallaght
Tallaght (Tamhlacht) is one of the largest suburbs of Dublin. Situated 13km Southwest of the city, Tallaght is connected to the city centre by numerous Dublin Bus routes and the Red Line of the Luas. The proposed Metro West will link Tallaght with Clondalkin, Lucan and Blanchardstown.
Beginning life as a town it was absorbed into the larger suburban area of Dublin, becoming Dublin 24 in the late 1980's. Tallaght retains much of its thriving local culture and has many distinctive features such as libraries, theatres and the famous Square shopping centre. It is also the home of the National Basketball Arena and several GAA clubs.
The area has a third-level Institute of Technology and many fine primary and secondary schools.
Tallaght stretches from Templeogue in the East to Saggart in the West and from Knocklyon in the South to Clondalkin and Walkinstown in the North.
Some of the residential areas in Tallaght include – Glenview, Sundale, Drumcairn, Raheen, Hazelgrove Estate, Deerpark, and Woodlawn.
