Lucan
Lucan (Leamhcán) is a picturesque old town in West County Dublin 16km from the city centre at the confluence of the River Liffey and the River Griffeen.
Lucan is located close to the M50 and on the N4 national primary route from Dublin to Sligo. The southern areas of the town are close to the N7 route. Lucan has a train station which is on the Kildare-Dublin commuter line and also serves the Southwest. A Luas line for the town has been proposed under Transport 21, with the completion date set at 2012.
The major business hub in the area, and also one of the largest employers, is the Liffey Valley Shopping Centre. It is one of Ireland’s largest shopping centres and contains a multitude of retail outlets, restaurants and leisure facilities - including a cinema.
Lucan has many excellent schools and a multitude of sports clubs and venues including Lucan Sarsfields GAA club, Lucan United football club and the Hermitage golf club.
